The Putney Inn Has Closed!

Good-Bye, and a Final Request from an Old Friend,

The sale of The Putney Inn to an investor with ties to the area, which was to have occurred over the winter, did not and will not happen.

Changed circumstances, evidently, preclude the Inn's re-opening. And so, another small, local, independent, family-owned and operated business fades from the landscape.

In sharing my sad news and saying good-bye, I want to thank the hundreds of thousands of patrons who have graced my door over my four decades as innkeeper-ess. Many of you have become friends, integral to the nurturing of a business with true heart and soul.

I am disappointed, of course. But I am proud and comforted in the knowledge that multiple generations of guests hold many great memories of many great times shared here. I was grateful to play a part in so many rites of passage and holiday celebrations, and I am grateful to reflect on them now.

And now, that final request...

Please tell your friends to tell their friends that The Putney Inn, with 11.25 plateau acres nestled between the Connecticut River and I-91, is for sale. Someone may know someone who knows someone in whose dreams and vision a property just such as ours may fit. Location, location, location - and so much more.

I send warmest best wishes,
Randi
