Classes, Camps & Crafts at The Putney Inn

Weaving Dates:
June 25, 26, 27: Beginning Weaving

Beginning Weaving: Come spend a long weekend learning to weave in the studio of one of New England's most prominent weavers. We will cover the basics of of weaving and all of the skills necessary to create a finished piece of fabric; including project planning, setting up the loom, fabric structures and finishing techniques. Participants will leave with some beautiful handwoven textiles and the skills necessary to complete projects at home.

Retreats begin at 11am on Friday morning and run through 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

Please note: Class size will be small enough to accommodate beginning weavers as well as weavers with some prior experience.

Class Cost: For a single participant with a private room the cost is $425.00

For participants who would like to share a room (double) with a participating friend, the cost is $375.00 per person.

Class cost includes all of the class instruction, lodging at The Putney Inn on Friday and Saturday night, a full Farmer's breakfast each morning of your stay and a box lunch to take with you to your classes.

Putney Inn Quilting Retreat

Travel to Vermont for five beautiful days to learn a new quilting technique, relax and be fed, meet new quilters, enjoy the Vermont countryside, and attend the Vermont Quilt Festival.

Your teacher is Faith Evans who has been quilting for 22 years. She will teach you the relatively new patterns, One Block Wonder or Stack N Whack. Material lists will be provided once you register.

On Saturday, the final full day, we will take a motor coach to the Vermont Quilt Festival in Essex Junction, VT. We will be there approximately 5 hours to view the quilts, shop at the vendors and have lunch.

The Quilting Retreat will take place at The Putney Inn and the pricing for the event includes quilting classes, instruction, lodging, meals, ( breakfast, lunch and dinner), taxes and gratuities from arrival Tuesday evening through departure on Sunday are accounted for in the pricing structure. The only meal that class participants will need to provide on their own is the lunch purchased while attending the Vermont Quilt Festival.

For a single participant with a private room the cost is: $840.00

For a participant who shares a room (double) the cost is $740.00 per person

Class sessions will take place every day with the option of free time to explore the countryside.

If you have unfinished projects you would like help on, feel free to bring them.

Sewing machines are available for rent ($10 for the session; reserve ahead of time) if you prefer not to bring your own.

Glassblowing Classes

Glassblowing is an exciting and magical process, as you watch the transformation of glowing liquid into beautiful solid glass. Students will learn basic techniques of gathering, shaping, and blowing glass and will have an opportunity to create pieces of their choice such as paperweights cups or vases. Robert Burch has been blowing glass for over 30 years and is a patient and experienced teacher who enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. His studio and business are located in Putney. All materials and equipment are provided. Students are asked to wear comfortable clothing.

Class size: 2-4 people
